Your day begins at La Jolla Shores, where gentle waves and salty breezes welcome you to the start of this coastal journey. Walking along the sands, you’ll pass Black’s Beach, a secluded gem tucked beneath towering cliffs.
From there, the route hugs the scenic coastline of Torrey Pines State Beach, where the rhythmic sound of waves sets the pace for your journey north. As you near Del Mar, the charm of this coastal town invites you to slow down and savor the moment, ending the day just above Del Mar Dog Beach, steps from Solana Beach.

Welcome to Stage 5 of your Camino Club! Meet your fellow Footbreaker's at the public parking lot at La Jolla Shores. After a quick introduction and briefing of today's walk we'll begin!

Today’s walk will follow the beach line out of La Jolla through Black’s Beach and Torrey Pines State Beach. We’ll then continue through Del Mar before finishing the day at the Del Mar Dog Beach.

Not quite! While our walks do showcase the stunning sites and landscapes of San Diego, they’re not traditional guided tours. Think of them as experiences designed to challenge you both physically and mentally while immersing you in the beauty of the city. Instead of focusing on narration or history, our main goal is walking across San Diego together, fostering connection and discovery along the way.
If you're looking for a historical, sightseeing, or food tour, San Diego has plenty of amazing companies to check out—we’d be happy to share recommendations!

Today's walk will cover ~10 miles from La Jolla Shores to Dog Beach in Del Mar.

Yes, our walks will continue rain or shine! Only in the rare case of severe or unsafe weather conditions will we consider postponing or canceling. Otherwise, be prepared to embrace the elements and enjoy the adventure as planned.

Today’s walk will be mostly flat walking along the beach and sidewalks.
*Part of todays walk will pass through Blacks Beach - a popular nudist beach

Not at all! Give it your best shot, but if you feel you’ve reached your limit or are pressed for time, you’re welcome to finish early and stop whenever you need to.

While we walk as a group, we understand that everyone has their own pace. Our walks are not races, so feel free to move at the speed that’s most comfortable for you. Whether you prefer a brisk pace or a more leisurely stroll, our goal is to ensure everyone enjoys the experience at their own rhythm.

We recommend well-worn, comfortable trainers or hiking shoes. To prevent blisters, avoid wearing brand new footwear.

Absolutely! It’s not a race—everyone has their own pace, and we encourage you to stop and rest whenever you need to. Plus, we’ll plan rest stops along the way for snacks, restrooms, and a chance to take in the beautiful surroundings. After all, we’re Footbreaks—it’s in the name!

Our walks are open to adults aged 18 and over.

We love our furry friends, but unfortunately, this walk isn’t pet-friendly due to the restrictions along the route. However, we’re just as excited as you are about the idea of dog-friendly walks and hope to organize them in the future—so stay tuned! If you have a service animal please get in touch!
