Your Camino Club journey continues north through the relaxed coastal towns of San Diego’s North County. Start with a walk through the artsy streets of Solana Beach, known for its design district and easygoing vibe. From there, follow the coastline along Cardiff-by-the-Sea, where surfers catch waves at Cardiff Reef and San Elijo State Beach.

The route leads into Encinitas, a unique blend of surf culture and spiritual retreats. Pause at Swami’s Beach for sweeping ocean views or soak in the laid-back charm of Leucadia with its eclectic shops, galleries, and cafes. End the day along the golden sands of Ponto Beach, on the edge of Carlsbad, feeling accomplished and ready for the next adventure.

Itinerary

  • Welcome to Stage 6 of your Camino Club! Meet your fellow Footbreaker's at the Solana Beach sign at Via de la Valle & Camino del Mar.

  • Today’s walk will go through Solana Beach and follow the coastline through Cardiff and Encinitas. We’ll finish today’s walk at South Ponto Beach on the border of Carlsbad.

  • Today’s walk will finish at the public parking lot South Ponto Beach.

  • Not quite! While our walks do showcase the stunning sites and landscapes of San Diego, they’re not traditional guided tours. Think of them as experiences designed to challenge you both physically and mentally while immersing you in the beauty of the city. Instead of focusing on narration or history, our main goal is walking across San Diego together, fostering connection and discovery along the way.

    If you're looking for a historical, sightseeing, or food tour, San Diego has plenty of amazing companies to check out—we’d be happy to share recommendations!

  • We will meet at the Solana Beach sign on the corner of Camino Del Mar & Via de la Valle.

    • Carpool - park your car at the finish point and carpool to the starting point

  • Today's walk will cover ~9 miles from our starting point in Solana Beach to the South Ponto Beach parking lot.

  • Yes, our walks will continue rain or shine! Only in the rare case of severe or unsafe weather conditions will we consider postponing or canceling. Otherwise, be prepared to embrace the elements and enjoy the adventure as planned.

  • Today’s walk will be on mostly flat beach and paved surfaces: sidewalks, boardwalks and some beach.

  • Not at all! Give it your best shot, but if you feel you’ve reached your limit or are pressed for time, you’re welcome to finish early and stop whenever you need to.

  • While we walk as a group, we understand that everyone has their own pace. Our walks are not races, so feel free to move at the speed that’s most comfortable for you. Whether you prefer a brisk pace or a more leisurely stroll, our goal is to ensure everyone enjoys the experience at their own rhythm.

  • We recommend well-worn, comfortable trainers or hiking shoes. To prevent blisters, avoid wearing brand new footwear.

  • Absolutely! It’s not a race—everyone has their own pace, and we encourage you to stop and rest whenever you need to. Plus, we’ll plan rest stops along the way for snacks, restrooms, and a chance to take in the beautiful surroundings. After all, we’re Footbreaks—it’s in the name!

  • Our walks are open to adults aged 18 and over.

  • We love our furry friends, but unfortunately, this walk isn’t pet-friendly due to the restrictions along the route. However, we’re just as excited as you are about the idea of dog-friendly walks and hope to organize them in the future—so stay tuned! If you have a service animal please get in touch!
